On Sunday, September 27, during a special added session on the aging face, Dr. Mobley presented "Achieving a 'Snatched' Jawline: Reliable Platysmaplasty in the Center Neck."
A "snatched" jawline, the sharp, defined jaw and neck angle popular on social media, is one of the most requested looks in facial plastic surgery today. Dr. Mobley's talk showed surgeons a reliable, simplified approach to platysmaplasty, which tightens the neck muscle, using his patent-pending surgical clamp and neck retractor. The clamp helps the operation go more efficiently and accurately, and the retractor gives the surgeon a clearer view of the surgical area.
Dr. Mobley also addressed a growing trend: some surgeons now remove the submandibular salivary glands to create an even sharper jawline. Dr. Mobley believes the long-term safety of this approach has not yet been shown over many years. His technique preserves the glands, which help keep the mouth moist, while still achieving excellent results, even in patients whose necks are difficult to treat.
