Hickory Composite Squadron Cadet Attends National Cadet Officer School

Civil Air Patrol North Carolina Wing's Hickory Composite Squadron’s former Cadet Commander, 

Cadet Captain John Cook, attended a 10-day National Cadet Special Activity. In July 2026, Cadet Captain Cook attended

Cadet Officer School at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

 

Cadet Captain Cook, along with about 120 other cadet officers, was housed in active-duty quarters

and used the same dining facilities and training buildings as U.S. Air Force officers. The cadets

experienced a sample of life as Air Force Officers as a part of the program.

 

The cadets attended briefings, completed physical training and carried out leadership practical

exercises designed to develop command skills. At the closing graduation ceremony, each cadet was

congratulated by Civil Air Patrol National Commander, Major General Regena M. Aye.

 

Cadet Captain Cook is a rising junior in high school and the current AFJROTC cadet commander there.
